Why Horses?

Humans are predators and horses are prey.  As prey animals, horses have survived for thousands of years because of their keen ability to be aware of their surroundings.  Because their life literally depended on this astute awareness, they have maintained a highly developed ability to respond to suble changes in body energies, body positions, muscle tension and breathing patterns.  In the wild setting, horses became acutely aware of when the predators(i.e., mountain lion) were a threat or merely passing through the territory. Therefore, the horse uses this awareness during their human experiences. Thus, they are able to detect the intent or inconsistencies from their human handler.  In addition, horses have a strong connection to the unit called the herd and communicate very effectively through non-verbal cues.  By observing the non-verbal communications of the horse, EFL/T services have the ability to use metaphors into human behaviors, communication skills and relationships.
